The MJHS Memory Care Residence
Thanks to a lead gift in February 2018, we kicked off our Keys to Connections campaign with the goal of addressing a growing need in our community: Dementia Care.
As our population ages, the need becomes greater and greater. Not only for the patient or resident but for their loved ones as well. In New York alone, almost two-thirds of all adults providing unpaid care to loved ones with a form of dementia have been doing so for at least two years.
The MJHS Memory Care Residence, located on the campus of our Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care is an 80-bed residence dedicated solely to residents who are suffering from dementia. The residence provides a calming, home-like environment, that encourages independence while offering innovative therapies like music, art and drama. These programs help residents unlock memories that may have been locked away and help families continue to create meaningful connections with their loved ones.
Our aim is to create a safe environment that will help residents reconnect with their passions and sense of identity as well as to provide family members with useful tools to help them engage with their loved ones.
The MJHS Memory Care Residence Provides:
