Giving Through a Qualified Charitable Distribution
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a smart way to support MJHS Foundation while enjoying valuable tax benefits.
If you’re age 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to a qualified charity like MJHS Foundation – up to $108,000 per year – without paying income taxes on the transfer and your gift can also count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Gifts of any size up to the annual limit are eligible, and you can feel good knowing your generosity is making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
How Giving Through a QCD Works
- Contact your IRA custodian and request a Qualified Charitable Distribution to MJHS Foundation.
- Direct funds from your IRA—up to $108,000 annually—straight to the charity.
- Fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without increasing your adjusted gross income.
- Provide immediate support to patients and their families, offering comfort, dignity and compassionate care.
Benefits of a Qualified Charitable Distribution
- Tax smart: A QCD can lower your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize deductions.
- Meets your RMD: Counts toward your annual required minimum distribution (RMD).
- Direct impact: Every dollar helps patients and families in need.
- Simple to set up: Your IRA custodian handles the transfer for you.”
