Extending Care Beyond What Insurance Covers

Family caregivers play a vital role at the end of life, often providing constant support while balancing their own responsibilities. While insurance may cover limited Home Health Aide services, that support is often not enough and is focused primarily on the patient. As a result, caregivers are frequently left to fill critical gaps—sometimes overnight or during long periods when they are unable to be present.

To help ease this burden, longtime caregiver Sylvia Golden established the MJHS Golden Family Supportive Treatment and Resources (STAR) Fund through a memorial gift in honor of her husband, Jerry. Her vision was simple yet powerful: to provide additional Home Health Aide hours beyond what insurance typically allows.

Today, through our annual wine tasting event and other efforts throughout the year, the STAR Fund supports families across our hospice program with added care—offering peace of mind, dignity, and meaningful relief when it matters most.

The Impact of Your Gift

A $30 gift can help provide an additional hour of support to families in need. Your generosity directly funds Home Health Aide hours beyond what insurance covers—offering caregivers of loved ones receiving care through MJHS Hospice meaningful relief during one of life’s most challenging times. By easing both emotional and practical burdens, this added support allows families to focus on what matters most: being together.
